Tronçais forest - lake (l'étang domanial de Tronçais)

All right so the forêt de Tronçais might not be in Cher but the neighbouring département of Allier, however as it's only 23 kilometres from Saint Amand-Montrond, the town is in a real sense the gateway to one of the most marvellous forests in France.

It covers more than 10,000 hectares, is famous for its ancient oak trees and has a bounty of natural springs, brooks and of course lakes.

More than well worth a visit, it's a place to enjoy and appreciate nature at its finest.

And a great place to begin your discovery of the forest is the étang domanial de Tronçais
